County Council elections

County Council elections are held every 4 years using the first past the post system.

The next County Council elections were scheduled to take place on 6 May 2021 but the Government took the decision to defer those elections to May 2022.

May 2022 elections to Somerset Council

The Government set out its proposals for the election of 110 councillors for Somerset Council to be held on 5 May 2022. The Government is also proposing for elections to also be held on the same day for all parish, town and city councils across Somerset.

The count of votes and declarations of results for 110 councillors to the County of Somerset is on 6 May 2022.

District elections

The first election to Somerset West and Taunton Council was held on 2 May 2019 and 59 councillors were elected to represent 35 wards.

Parish and town council elections

Elections for the 78 parish and town councils in the Somerset West and Taunton area were also held on 2 May 2019.
