Stronger Somerset
Dear SWT tenants and leaseholders,
You may have already heard about proposals for the reform of local government in Somerset, and will naturally have questions about how these changes might affect you.
The Stronger Somerset proposal, led by the four District Councils including SWT, doesn’t contain any significant changes for tenants or for the houses that we own and manage.
As you may remember, your landlord changed in 2019 when Taunton Deane and West Somerset became the new Somerset West and Taunton Council. We would anticipate that the housing stock that we own would transfer to any new Council in the same way.
Somerset West and Taunton Council will continue to put tenants at the heart of the decisions that are made.
You can find out more on the Stronger Somerset website and the One Somerset website.
Leave your comments on both these websites and there are also social media accounts for Stronger Somerset and One Somerset.
Please do take the opportunity to have your say.
Cllr Fran Smith, Executive Member for Housing
