Gas servicing advice
Around 14 people in the UK die every year from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty gas appliances.
The check that we carry out ensures your safety in your home. By law, the Council is responsible for making sure that gas fittings and flues in your home are maintained and in good working order.
If you still have a copy of your last gas safety certificate, the next service will be due no more than 12 months later than the date on the certificate.
If you are unable to find your copy, contact us on 0300 304 8000 and we will send you a copy and advise you when the next service is due.
We will contact you before your service expires to arrange an appointment for the service to be carried out.

If you do not contact us and we are unable to gain access, we will enter you into our ‘No Access’ process, which could result eventually in entry being gained into the property by force. To avoid this, we ask you to allow us access to your home.
We will carry out a safety check and service to all fittings and flues provided by us.
We will not service equipment owned by you such as cookers, hobs or fires. However, we will check they are safe for you to use.
We meet all the costs for gas servicing.
We can arrange for your home to be visited when it’s convenient for you, and will work around school runs that you may need to do.
It will normally take up to an hour to service the gas equipment that we are responsible for.
The engineer will cover your belongings with dust sheets to ensure they are protected and will move any items out of the way for you.
We will ask permission prior to moving any of your possessions.
Each engineer will explain to you what work has been carried out and anything else you need to know.
A Landlords Safety Certificate will be sent to you within 28 working days of the service being carried out.
