Empty homes

Empty homes are a waste of housing and can affect the area around them.

Houses in poor repair can lower the value of other houses nearby, attract vermin, may become unsafe and can become the focus for anti-social behaviour.

We work with Sedgemoor District Council in Somerset West Private Sector Housing Partnership (SWPSHP).

Our aim is to work with owners of empty properties to bring them back into use. We can provide owners with information and advice. We work closely with others such as our preferred loan provider, Wessex Resolution CIC, Somerset Care and Repair (a charitable, not-for-profit home improvement agency), estate agents, managing and letting agents, solicitors, developers and auctioneers.

We can also take action against owners who keep their properties empty without good reason.

All owners or their representatives can contact us using the general enquiries online form for information and advice.
