Surrender a premises licence
You can give up a premises licence if you don’t want to use it and be responsible for paying the annual fee. A premises licence doesn’t expire unless it is issued for a limited time, for example for an event.
Only the premises licence holder can surrender the licence.
Write to us saying that you want to surrender the licence and include the original premises licence with your letter.
When we get your letter and original licence we‘ll update our records. This includes the Public Register. The licence will then no longer exist.
Laws and regulation
The Licensing Act 2003 enables premises licences to be surrendered.
