Gambling Act 2005 statement of licensing principles
The council’s ‘licensing authority’ function is required, by section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005, to prepare and publish a statement of licensing principles that it intends to apply when exercising its functions under the Act. This is commonly referred to as the ‘policy statement’ and must be reviewed and published every three years.
During the three-year period, the policy must be kept under review and the licensing authority may make any revisions to it as it considers appropriate.
The licensing authority of Somerset West and Taunton has revised and prepared a draft statement of principles, for the period 2019 to 2022, to replace those previously published by Taunton Deane Borough Council and West Somerset Council. This draft policy is now under consultation.
To make a comment on the draft policy, please email email@example.com, quoting ‘draft policy’ in the title of the email. The consultation will close on the 23rd September 2019.
