Coal Orchard residential properties on sale
09 June 2021 : Council news, Planning and development
SWT is working with trusted local estate agent Connells to market the residential apartments at the Council’s flagship Coal Orchard development.
Potential homeowners can now browse a sales brochure and website for Taunton’s prime riverside quarter - Riverside at Coal Orchard. Connells will also be arranging viewings at the Council’s stunning show flat by appointment only.
Properties on the market will range from one to two bedrooms with views over the river or the independent retail area, with various options for customers such as help to buy schemes and a discounted open market scheme for qualifying applicants.
Cllr Marcus Kravis, Executive Member for Economic Development, said:
“Marketing of our residential properties marks a significant milestone in the regeneration of Coal Orchard which will bring new vitality to this area in the heart of Taunton.
"We have already received strong interest in this unique location through our commercial and residential agents and are confident that people will like what they see in the show home.”
Paul Matthews, New Homes Board of Management Partner at Connells, said: “We are delighted to be working with SWT on the residential sales for this superb new development in the centre of Taunton and already have a database of customers who are looking to reserve.
"We are certain that these prestigious homes with fabulous views will attract interest from buyers not just locally but from across the country and are excited to bring them to the market.”
The Coal Orchard development includes a mix of apartments, retail, workspace, and restaurants; and incorporates a riverfront plaza with a stepped terrace to make the most of its position on the River Tone.
It retains the character of the unique town centre location while enhancing the environment with EV charge points set to be installed and a Car Share club pilot being considered.
The Council’s partner Midas Construction, started work on the regeneration in August 2019 and has received a Certificate of Excellence from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for its work at Coal Orchard,
It has been working closely with the Council to minimise the challenges of Covid-19 in the last 14 months which have meant a re-programming of works to allow for social distancing and accommodate the knock on effects of national delays with material and sub-contractor supplies.
Mike Borkowski, Business Development Director at Midas Construction, said: “We have made fantastic progress despite these challenges and are proud to be starting the completion process with the quality of the scheme maintained within budget.”
Commercial marketing of the retail, workspace and hospitality has resulted in several expressions of interest from local and national companies with some pre-let agreements already entered into with business looking to expand their operations and their profile in Taunton’s prime town centre location.
Registrations of interest in the commercial units can also be made at Riverside at Coal Orchard.
