Minehead BID invoices to be delayed

In these unprecedented times during the Covid-19 crisis, Minehead BID and Somerset West and Taunton (SWT) have agreed to delay the issue of year three invoices in respect of Minehead BID.

Business Improvement Districts are governed by parliamentary regulations which require invoices to be issued annually, however, Minehead BID and SWT have agreed on a pragmatic decision to delay this year’s invoice issue from July until September 2020.

The BID Levy is also normally due in a lump sum, but for this year only it has been agreed businesses can pay in three instalments by contacting the Council and setting up a payment arrangement.

Minehead BID was established for its first 5-year term in 2018 with the support of more than 240 local traders to raise the town’s profile as a resort, organise regular events and improve the public realm of the town.

Graham Sizer, Minehead BID Chairman said “It is widely accepted that all our lives will never be the same as we begin to recover from this pandemic, however, one thing is certain our High Streets will have changed forever.

Minehead BID has been at the forefront of leading the recovery in Minehead and we hope our members will be supportive of this decision.”

Cllr Marcus Kravis, Executive Member for Economic Development at SWT, said “We are fully behind this decision which reinforces the fact that BID Levy Payers, Minehead BID and the Council must work even more closely together to bring both recovery and prosperity to the BID area and the wider business community of Minehead.”
