Park and Ride Perks
27 November 2019 : Parking
SWT is introducing a saver scheme to encourage more people to use the Park and Ride service.
The Council has been liaising with the retail and business community in Taunton about incentives to promote greater use of the buses and boost their own sales.
Several town centre businesses have already joined ‘Park and Ride Perks’ to offer customers discounts or rewards which will attract shoppers into their stores - Timpsons, Company Spaces, The Cricketers, Ask Italian, Boston Tea Party, Merchant Menswear, Perkin Warbeck, and Anytime Fitness Gyms.
Mark Bouchier, Manager of the Perkin Warbeck, said: “I’m very pleased that SWT are supporting businesses by attracting customers to use the Park and Ride and to visit Taunton”
Simon Brand, Manager of the recently opened Boston Tea Party, added: “Boston Tea Party is very happy to be in Taunton and to be part of this scheme which is great for customers and businesses.”
A full list of businesses and their offers for Park and Ride Perks can be found on the Visit Somerset website.
Information on how businesses can join Park and Ride Perks can be obtained by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org at SWT.
The scheme has been launched in time for the festive season and coincides with an extension of the Park and Ride service to support traders on the four Thursdays before Christmas.
Buses will continue running every 15 minutes until 9pm from the sites at Junction 25 and Silk Mills so that people can enjoy the late night shopping.
SWT has been supporting Somerset County Council and the operator Buses of Somerset with a strategy to deliver a financially sustainable model for the Park and Ride service after plans were announced to suspend it in 2018.This has also led to the reintroduction of the Saturday service between 8.30am and 6pm until at least March 2020.
More information on the Park and Ride service including timetables, maps and fares, is available from the Park and Ride website.
