A free independent retail mentoring programme has been announced for Minehead, facilitated by established retail training consultant, Fran Riseley.
Funded by the Emergency Town Centre Recovery Fund, created by Somerset West and Taunton Council to help town centres in the district recover from the pandemic and administered by the Minehead Business Improvement District (BID).
Fran Riseley has enjoyed an extensive career in retail and for the past 30 years has been committed to helping retailers. She is known for her practical, yet inspirational, training that really transforms businesses.
Julian Abraham, chair of the steering group responsible for the fund in Minehead said: "this is a great opportunity for our independent retailers to take bold steps to a brighter future which is undoubtedly around the corner.
"It shows yet again that Minehead BID is well placed to help its business community move forward out of the pandemic in a safe, supported and well structured, organisational manner."
Fran Riseley said: "No business is the same and the mentoring sessions we are offering are uniquely tailored to each retailer and provide simple, yet effective ideas to increase sales and become more profitable."
The mentoring involves a 2-3 hour tailored session in the owner’s shop. It will focus on all aspects of the business including marketing, social media, visual merchandising, sales and service, shop front and signage, staffing and business strategy.
Coaching sessions are followed up with an action plan and summary of findings and a further session will review progress and ensure continued improvements.
