SWT and Sedgemoor councils to host virtual job fair with SUEZ

Following on from previous successes, an opportunity has arisen to find out about the job vacancies currently being offered by global utility company, SUEZ.
Under Construction, the Employment and Skills Team at Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset West & Taunton’s Community Employment Hubs are jointly hosting a virtual event on 15 September via Microsoft Teams, which will be repeated over two sessions between 11am - 12pm and 7pm - 8pm.
The online events will provide an overview of current vacancies, a behind the scenes look at SUEZ and the benefits provided, followed by a Question & Answer session.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, said: “This industry is a vital part of our communities – the teams at SUEZ were keyworkers throughout the pandemic but services have been affected with the national driver shortage and Covid-19, which is still prevalent in our area”.
The local councils are keen to support the recruitment drive.
A spokesperson from SUEZ added: “Joining our team can provide individuals with a stable future”.
SUEZ holds a long-term contract with Somerset Waste Partnership to deliver the county’s refuse and recycling collections.

Sedgemoor’s Employment and Skills Officer said: “Whilst we know there can be barriers to online events, we know of many schemes through partner organisations to support people, including our own projects delivered at Under Construction. If you need a device to attend, Somerset Libraries have an iPad loaning scheme”.
