Taunton Vision 2040 launched

27 January 2021 : Council news, Planning and development

Somerset West and Taunton Council has launched a major new campaign to promote Taunton as the best place to live, work and do business in the UK.

As part of its Garden Town status the launch of Taunton Vision 2040 invites people to “Invest in the Future” with an ambitious plan for Somerset’s County Town.

Hi-tech animation and new drone footage highlight current and future projects and promote council owned sites that form part of the overall masterplan.
This is backed by a detailed document giving more details on what Garden Town status means for Taunton and the opportunities for investors.

Key to the regeneration will be bringing the River Tone back to the heart of Taunton, with riverside living, working and leisure opportunities, building on the multi-million pound Coal Orchard project.

The video and full Vision 2040 prospectus is available to view on our website along with the opportunity to comment.

Taunton’s Vision 2040 will target businesses, people and investors in the UK and overseas.

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Leader of Somerset West and Taunton Council, said: “We are looking beyond the pandemic to a new future for Taunton and Somerset and we hope that this vision will act as a catalyst for our regeneration, unlocking public and private investment.
“Our plan is ambitious and exciting, but also achievable. By creating new green infrastructure, celebrating heritage, building modern and connected transport networks and raising design quality we can make Taunton the best place to live, work and do business in the country”.
