08 March 2022 : Council news, Community

Are you looking for work or to develop your skills for a new role? If so, don’t miss out on the upcoming careers and jobs fairs taking place across the district this month.

The recruitment offer kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, 9 March 2022, with Somerset West and Taunton (SWT) Council’s annual Recruit West Somerset Careers and Jobs Fair, arranged in partnership with Minehead Jobcentre Plus and Somerset County Council's NEETs Project, SomersetWorks, hosted by holiday resort chain, Butlins, at Studio 36, Minehead, between 3 and 5pm.

Many of the employers attending are seeking out local talent within the West Somerset area to fill a range of vacancies and apprenticeships currently being offered and therefore, attendees are advised to bring an up-to-date copy of their CV.

The employers signed up to attend include: Bluebird Care, Wetherspoons, Butlins, The Beach Hotel, HF Holidays, Hinkley Point C Jobs Service, Magna Housing and many more.

Training providers and support agencies will also be in attendance to help job seekers and school leavers towards finding work, including Skill Up West Somerset, Somerset Skills & Learning (SS&L), Pluss’ Positive People Somerset, SomersetWorks and SWT’s Community Employment Hubs.

Cllr Marcus Kravis, Executive Member for Economic Development at SWT, said: “With a range of local businesses and training providers attending this event, the Jobs Fair is an opportunity for anyone looking for work or a change in career. It provides a chance to have direct face-to-face conversations with local employers to find out more about some of the roles and careers on offer”.

For more information, call Minehead Job Centre on 01643 435822.

Further recruitment fairs are being held in Taunton.

The fair is intended for people looking to start a career or gain a qualification specifically within the construction industry, including carpentry, bricklaying, roofing, ground works, plumbing, labouring and more.

Employers within the construction sector who are interested in booking a stand free of charge, should email Angela Bolitho at
