Business waste collection

Many businesses find that they can save money by recycling some of their waste. By recycling waste you will also be fulfilling pre-treatment regulations which say that all waste must be pre-treated before being sent to landfill.

There are a number of licensed waste management companies who provide commercial waste and recycling collection services in the area.

Businesses must set up an agreement/contract with a licensed waste carrier to dispose of their waste. Businesses pay the contractor as non-domestic rates do not include rubbish collection.

Commercial waste disposal points are controlled by the Environment Agency and Somerset County Council.

A Local Education Authority (LEA) school can arrange a waste collection by contacting Somerset County Council on 0300 123 2224.

Other non LEA schools make their own arrangements for waste and recycling collections and may find more information on the Somerset Waste Partnership website.
