Missed collections

Coronavirus update

Staff shortages mean that if recycling collections are missed, Somerset Waste Partnership may lack the resources to make return pick-ups. If you are missed, do not leave containers out or report it; take everything in and re-present the following week. To help crews: rinse containers, squash all but glass and aerosols, flatten and tear up card, sort-segregate materials without using carrier bags, and put out by 7am. All food waste must go in the food waste bin.

Unless you have an assisted collection, put refuse bins and recycling out at the edge of your property by 7am (as collection times can vary) and no earlier than the night before. Do not obstruct pavements or roads and take containers back in as soon as possible after collections.

Refuse bin lids should be closed and only refuse in the bin will be collected. Extra refuse on top or alongside will not usually be taken.

You can report a missed waste collection to arrange a return collection.

Items left out for recycling that are not collected will be left in the container with a card or tag to explain.

Bad weather can affect collections. Visit the Somerset Waste Partnership website and search "bad weather" for guidance and updates.
