Redundancy support information for employers and employees

Somerset West and Taunton Council is fully committed to supporting our businesses and their employees who are facing redundancy during this very challenging and difficult time. Working with our partners including the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Job Centre Plus (JCP) and Somerset County Council (SCC), we can provide a package of support to help businesses looking to restructure and make redundancies in their workforce and for the employees directly affected by the changes.

SWT can offer:

  • Direct contact with our SWT Business Relationship Officer who will support your business throughout the redundancy period.
  • Provide a list of redundancy support agencies for employers and employees facing redundancy providing a description of the support available, eligibility criteria and contact details.
  • Give advice on free training available for your remaining workforce to help them learn new skills to help grow your business

What to do next

Contact us on employmentsupport@somersetwestandtaunton.gov.uk and request a ‘Response to Redundancy Pack’ and we will follow up with a telephone call or meeting to ensure the right advice and support meets your needs and requirements.
